About the Project
Township 9 is a planned mixed-use, transit-oriented development project located in Sacramento’s River District, bordering the American River. The new community (estimated at $2 billion) will sit on 65 acres of in-fill land and include 2,350 residential units, 840, 00 square feet of office space, 140,000 square feet of retail space, and a new light rail station for the Regional Transit Green Line. The project is expected to achieve Gold status for The U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED for Neighborhood Development program.
The project has strict guidelines for sustainability in place, including reusing rainwater and optimizing the natural path of the sun. They are also reusing materials from the demolished cannery, to reduce the need for virgin construction materials.
